Caught My Eye…

Hello Friday – You beautiful thing!

Here are a few topics that caught my eye this week:

  • The Balloon
  • Ilhan Omar
  • The Western Word
  • One More Thing

THE BALLOON:

If you follow me on Twitter (@TheWesternWord) then you were one of the first to know about the Chinese balloon floating over Montana yesterday.

After the story hit the news, it has been comical to read the responses from people. The Montana Congressional delegation had to chime in and act like they were on top of the issue.

I think that during a child’s birthday party in Beijing the string broke, and the balloon got away. Now it’s causing an international incident. If we shoot it down, candy will probably rain down over the USA.

Seriously, I suspect that the balloon is being used to collect data about Malmstrom and other defense facilities. Malmstrom is going through some upgrades to the missile sites.

Psst, don’t tell anyone but there are several low-orbit satellites owned by our adversaries that take photos of key areas in the USA all the time.

China says it is a civilian device “used for scientific research such as meteorology.” (Source)

It’s too bad the Montana National Guard lost their jets due to the Montana congressional delegation failure, or the Department of Defense could scramble them to monitor or shoot down the balloon.

ILHAN OMAR:

It happened. I mentioned this in my Wednesday column, and 218 House Republicans voted on Thursday to remove U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN), from the Foreign Affairs Committee. One Republican voted “Present,” and three Republicans did not vote. There were 211 Democrats voting “nay” and one did not vote. (Source)

The vote was over comments Omar made in the past critical of Israel. She later apologized for the remarks.

Omar won her last election with 74% of the vote.

Some idiots claimed that “What goes around, comes around” because most people believe it was payback for when the Democrats were in charge. The Democrats stripped Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., from their committees after the two lawmakers appeared to endorse violence against Democratic lawmakers. (Source).

I think this vote showed that Islamophobia and racism prevail in the House Republican caucus. Shame on them.

THE WESTERN WORD:

ONE MORE THING:

During my trip to Walmart the other day, I needed some eggs. If you shop for groceries much, then you have probably seen the price of eggs have increased significantly.

As I approached the refrigerated area where the eggs were located, I noticed a gentleman near the eggs. As I opened the door to get my eggs, the man whispered with his hand over his mouth, “I can sell you some eggs out in the parking lot for a lot less than you are paying for those.”

I was kind of surprised and felt like I was involved in a drug deal (not that I would know about how drug deals go down), and I mumbled, “No thanks, I will just take these.”
