Hello November!
Quote for today…
You are never too old to play in the leaves. – Unknown
In today’s column, I take a quick look at these people/issues:
- Today’s Column
- Paul Pelosi
- Montana Chamber of Commerce
- One More Thing
TODAY’S COLUMN:
I usually write my columns in the evening for posting around midnight, but yesterday I was at the local hospital getting a procedure done. I was a little loopy (more than normal), so I went to bed very early and slept like a baby!
PAUL PELOSI:
I know this is the second day in a row that I have written about Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband and him being attacked with a hammer. I don’t know Paul Pelosi and I don’t care that much about his or Nancy’s life.
I do know that he and other spouses of elected officials should be safe. The elected officials should be safe and staffers, of which I was one for almost 12 years, should be safe at work and at home.
Now posts from haters on social media have taken the limelight. Somebody started reposting a story that said that Paul Pelosi had invited the suspect in the case, 42-year-old David DePape, (the man who was accused of attacking him with a hammer) into his home to have sex with him. (Source)
Then we have the ultimate dipshit, Donald Trump, Jr., making fun of the attack on Pelosi. (Source)
Even some dipshits in Montana posted or retweeted the fake story. (Source)
Others are saying the man accused of attacking Pelosi was here illegally. I don’t see what difference that makes. If true, that means he is a MAGA guy.
Even Snopes has already posted a story calling the story about Paul Pelosi bringing the man who attacked him with a hammer in October 2022 home from a gay bar, as false. (Source)
We should be better than this. Life and safety are more important than politics.
MONTANA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:
If you watch much local TV, then you have probably seen the campaign ad for State Supreme Court candidate James Brown that says that his opponent, current State Supreme Court Justice Ingrid Gustafson received an “F” rating from the Montana Chamber of Commerce.
It’s sad how far off in the deep right ditch the Montana Chamber of Commerce has veered. Several MAGA folks are employed there. If I owned a business, I would not join the Chamber because they are too political. I would probably tell them to “F” off if they asked.
I’m sure the Chamber will say they have no power to stop Brown from using their data.
The rating being talked about in the commercials shows Gustafson with a 48% score in 2020-21 and a lifetime score of 58%. (Source) The average for all the justices was just around 61% for 2020-21.
Ironically, a few years ago (2018-19) when Gustafson was not running for reelection, she came in with a 64% rating from the Montana Chamber. (Source).
I think the Montana Chamber should get an “F” rating for getting involved in political races.
I will be voting for Gustafson. I hope you will join me.
ONE MORE THING:
The Powerball jackpot is now at $1.2 billion! Here is a statement from Powerball:
The Powerball® jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.2 billion ($596.7 million cash) for the next drawing on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The jackpot rolled after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Monday night – white balls 13, 19, 36, 39, 59 and red Powerball 13.
If a player wins Wednesday’s jackpot, it will be the second-largest jackpot in Powerball history, only behind the world record $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot, and fourth-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.
Check out the Powerball website HERE.
You can buy a lot of politicians with this jackpot…
The degradation of the Chambers of Commerce across the country has been going on for a long time. Montana’s state Chamber seems particularly virulent. In a plant-based metaphor, the Chamber isn’t wheat – it’s cheatgrass.
“Why shouldn’t the American people take half my money from me? I took all of it from them.”
Edward Albert Filene (1869-1937)
Filene (of Boston’s Filene’s Department Stores) helped found the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to encourage businesses to contribute to the welfare of their communities. He eventually quit the organization, disappointed that it had become a bastion of right-wing conservatism and an anti-tax lobby.
Great info – thanks! -JmB
Jimmy Kimmel said Don jr. “ is a a chinless wart on his father’s nutsack.” I’d say that’s pretty accurate.
Good Morning Jackie,
I hope you are back and feeling well. A good nights sleep is always the best for what ails you.
Regarding the Montana Chamber of Commerce Judicial Rankings. They are not very keen on many of the Justices. Four of seven got Fs, one got a D, one a C+ and a B for the conservative darling who, in my opinion, has gotten less conservative over the years. You mught recall she was planning on retiring but was pulled back in by the Repubs, apparently.

I hope the link works, first try.
This violence thing is truly disconcerting, especially from our leaders. Is dipshit a noun or a verb ? While true, not very useful.
Noun. I should use my words better. 😁
I like the verb better. I can almost smell it :). Oh, as a retired railroader, I am curious about the location of the railroad photo. What is the location?
The railroad photo was taken a little north of Great Falls on Morony Dam Road.
Speaking of the RR, way back in 1980 I was hired by the Chicago Northwestern RR as a brakeman working out of Des Moines IA. I quit my job and the day after, I was laid off CN&W. They had a slow down and did not need new employees. Never got to work for them. I ended up joining the Air Force a few months later. The rest is history! – JmB
I just noticed there are two railroad photos that rotate on the home page. The one with trees is a stock photo from the blog; the other without trees is from north of Great Falls. -JmB
That would be the line from Great Falls to Fort Benton? what is the rail line photo in the trees? I worked from Great Falls to Shelby and to Laurel. We called the CNW Cheap Nothing Wasted.
John – GF to Fort Benton. I think so. The photos on my homepage are rotated. The railroad tracks with trees is a free photo from Word Press. I don’t know where it was taken.
As for C&NW I heard a lot of negative things about them, especially from the Rock Island R/R people who they did not hire. -JmB
Speaking of Brown’s MT supreme court campaign, I have been informed by some TV commercials I have been unsuccessful in avoiding that Brown is running against Joe Biden! Who knew. Now, that is some real non-partisan stuff right there.
Haha. I’ve seen those too. Starts out with lies and ends with lies. Thanks, JmB
