Now about that reefer madness…

When I read stories about the issues with recreational marijuana in Montana, which was approved by voters 57% – 43%, I want to tell those putting up roadblocks to it being sold to “eff off.” Maybe I just need to visit a dispensary and ask for something to help me handle the dumbassery in Great Falls.

I happened to catch a story from The Electric which reported that Great Falls City Commissioners voted 4-1 during their Aug. 2 meeting to send the question of legalizing marijuana activities within the city limits to the November ballot.

When Great Falls residents vote to allow “marijuana activities within the city limits” what will be the next roadblock?

MONTANA DEMOCRATS PARTY PLATFORM:

I’ve been checking the Montana Democrats website and at the time of writing this column, their new party platform was not posted. The one from 2020 is still up.

It seems to me that both political parties in Montana do a piss poor job on social media.

BRITTNEY GRINER:

It was not much of a surprise on Thursday as Brittney Griner was convicted of drug possession and sentenced to nine years in a Russian penal colony.

As the Associated Press reports, now attention turns to the prospect of a prisoner swap between the United States and Russia that could get her home.

Some of the MAGA people, who feel they are the only patriots left in the USA, are pissed that Griner is getting this attention. It’s because she has spoken out against the USA and refused to be on the court when the national anthem was played.

Griner was protesting peacefully. That’s what we do in America – it’s free speech! Get over yourself.

MIKE LINDELL:

Raw Story is reporting that MyPillow chief executive Mike Lindell is hosting a conference later this month that will fold government officials and right-wing sheriffs into the “big lie” ecosystem that has developed after Donald Trump’s election loss.

I wonder if our right-wing sheriff in Cascade County will participate. I also wonder if participants receive free pillows…

ALEX JONES:

I smiled when I heard the report that conspiracy theorist Alex Jones lost his case against two Sandy Hook parents.

The Associated Press (AP) reported:

A Texas jury Thursday ordered conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to pay more than $4 million — significantly less than the $150 million being sought — in compensatory damages to the parents of a 6-year-old boy killed in the Sandy Hook massacre, marking the first time the Infowars host has been held financially liable for repeatedly claiming the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history was a hoax.

It’s nice to see some of these conspiracy nuts being held accountable. If you followed Jones or reposted any of his conspiracies, you are just as much a scumbag as he.

ONE MORE THING:

Gas prices are dropping. President Biden’s approval rating is creeping up.

Republicans put party politics over veterans in the U.S. Senate regarding the PACT Act. Now, Nate Silver over at FiveThirtyEight.com says the Democrats are “slightly favored” to win the Senate. The House is leaning toward a Republican takeover.

This means the November elections are going to be fun to watch!
