Quote for the Day…
Every day is a new beginning. Take a deep breath and start again. – Ain Eineziz
Caught My Eye (CME) is the once-a-week column that is posted every Friday morning. This is when I look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week.
Here are some of the things that “Caught My Eye” this week:
- Biden is President
- Dramatic Decrease in Theft
- U.S. Public Schools
BIDEN IS PRESIDENT:
It seems some of the Montana MAGA Republicans are unwavering about Joe Biden not being a legitimate President.
Here at The Western Word, these people are referred to as clowns.
The Montana Free Press (MTFP) reported that Republican central committees in Ravalli and Lewis and Clark counties have in the last two weeks passed near-identical resolutions refuting the results of the 2020 presidential election and claiming Joe Biden “was not legitimately elected” to the presidency of the United States. The resolutions urge the Montana Legislature to do “everything in their power” to put “the responsibility of election integrity and accountability back into the hands of We the People.”
Donald Trump beat Joe Biden in Montana 56.9% to 40.5%. Trump lost the electoral vote 306-232. I think Trump beat Hillary Clinton by around that much and called it a landslide.
The Montana Republicans who go along with these MAGA clowns are embarrassing Montana. Biden is President, like it or not.

DRAMATIC DECREASE IN THEFT:
On the Facebook page of the Great Falls Police Department (GFPD), they posted the following:
POLICE BLOTTER 7/13/22 – Overall, we’ve seen a dramatic decrease in theft throughout the community.
☑️Check out these stats☑️
(2022 vs 2021, Jan 1 – July 11)
⬇️ Auto Theft 113/178
⬇️ Burglary 131/176
⬇️ Larc From Auto 155/329
⬇️ Robbery 7/18 61% down
⬆️ Shoplift 434/333
Of the five categories listed, four showed significant decreases. I applaud the GFPD for all they do to keep us safe.
According to the Great Falls Facebook Barney Fifes and haters of those less fortunate, all the homeless people are running around breaking the law, so I am surprised at the “dramatic decrease in theft throughout the community.”

U.S. PUBLIC SCHOOLS:
Gallup reported this week that Americans’ confidence in U.S. public schools remains low, with 28% saying they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the institution, similar to 32% last year. Both figures are down from 41% in 2020, reflecting a brief surge in the early months of the pandemic after registering 29% in 2019.
Of course, Republicans lead the way in having the least amount of confidence in public schools (14%), with Independents coming in at 29% and Democrats coming in at 43%.
I think the Republicans in the Montana Legislature want to destroy public schools. Montana has some of the better public schools in the country. It seems to me the Democrats care more about public schools than Republicans.
Remember that if you support public schools.
