Quote for the Day…

We forget that waking up each day is the first thing we should be grateful for. – Unknown

In today’s column, I look at these people/issues:

  • Election Results
  • Roe v. Wade
  • The Western Word Poll

ELECTION RESULTS:

ROE V. WADE:

Tuesday evening Politico published a leaked draft document revealing that the conservative-leaning Supreme Court was going to overturn Roe v. Wade. If you follow me on Twitter, then you were one of the first to see the Politico story.

Elections have consequences.

Social media exploded with the Politico news. Protests sprang up across the fruited plains. People rejoiced. People were pissed.

The Montana congressional delegation followed the party line when issuing their statements to the media.

Donald Trump placed three conservatives (Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barrett) on the U.S. Supreme Court and that sealed the deal in what looks like Roe v. Wade being overturned. Trump delivered. Yes, one of the justices was rightfully Obama’s to pick, but Mitch McConnell played hardball and won.

Chuck Schumer might try playing hardball occasionally.

Some Senators were upset that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh might not have been as forthcoming with their thoughts on Roe v. Wade during their confirmation. They claimed Roe v. Wade had precedent and acted as it was set in stone. I guess we’ll see how it all comes out when the real opinion is released in a month or so.

Some pundits were saying this could change the outcome of the midterms because polls show most people don’t want Roe v. Wade struck down. It did not take long before the fundraising emails hit my inbox. Here’s one from the Montana GOP:

While this will cause a massive uproar in extreme protest from the Left, we have something even bigger to worry about – how much money the Dems will raise off of this.
The Left is going to blow this story out of proportion to benefit their own pockets when the reality is, there is nothing that they can do!
This leak is an attack on the independence of the Supreme Court and is clearly a far-left effort to obstruct the Court’s decision on a pending case by bullying and intimidating the Justices.

It’s not “clearly a far-left effort…”

All in all, the worst thing in the past 24 hours is that a draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court was leaked. The court had an image problem already. Now it is worse.

Here are some must-reads dealing with Roe v. Wade possibly being overturned:

THE WESTERN WORD POLL:

This week’s poll question asks, “Do you approve of Elon Musk buying Twitter?” (Background)

The results will be posted Thursday.
