Quote for the Day…
I wish I met some people a little earlier, some a little later, and some never at all. – Unknown
CME is the once-a-week column that is posted every Friday morning. This is when I look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week.
Here are some of the things that “Caught My Eye” this week:
- Candidate Filing to End
- Corey Stapleton
- Great Falls Tribune
- Weekend Reading Assignments
- One More Thing
CANDIDATE FILING TO END:
Candidate filing in Montana ends on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 5:00 pm.
You can view the Legislative filings HERE.
You can view the non-Legislative filings HERE.
I reside in House District 23 and Senate District 12. While I was not happy with my representation in the last legislative session, I am hopeful that the candidates running for office this time will be successful.
As more information is available, I will be providing commentary about the upcoming primary election in Montana. The primary election is on June 7.
COREY STAPLETON:
According to my friend Aaron Flint over at the Montana Talks website, former Montana Secretary of State Corey Stapleton is “testing the waters” for President in 2024. (Source)
Bwahaaahaaaa…
I hope he has a life jacket…
GREAT FALLS TRIBUNE:
Here is an update to my commentary from Wednesday…
After the third time contacting the Tribune customer service line, I am now, once again, subscribed. They gave me a sweet deal on a digital subscription – $1 for six months.
You should support your local newspaper.
WEEKEND READING ASSIGNMENTS:
Here are some articles you should read this weekend…
GF Tribune – Montana Democratic Party will hire coordinator to reach out to Indigenous voters
The Montana Democrats need a lot of help…
NY Times – Republicans Wrongly Blame Biden for Rising Gas Prices
Gas prices are high around the world…
WRAL – US Rep. Madison Cawthorn calls Ukrainian president a ‘thug’
Cawthorn is a punk…
ONE MORE THING:
Don’t forget to “Spring Ahead” this weekend! Also, prepare yourself to hear the bitching and complaining about it…
I came home last night after playing a gig and found the Daily Montanan report on Stapleton. Gosh, I know I’ll never play that gig! https://mooreonmontana.com/2022/03/12/the-new-cw-corey/

I’ve little patience. I can’t easily find who all filed for our two races for County commissioners.
Mary – it is hard to find that info! Readers?
Here is what I found – the county races are near the end. It’s a little old:

I saw that but wanted today’s update. I’ll probably just wait now til fillings close on Monday. Thanks. I was looking for some easy way. SOS office needs to make it easier. Or again my little patience is the problem.
Mary – With a county as large as Cascade, I would think they could list the candidates on the Cascade Elections website. Thanks, JmB
I went to Political Practices.
I wanted to see County Commissioners’ filings. Bingo.
Thanks!
