The Monday Memo

Quote for the day…

The irony of all this is that the internet was created to save us time. -Unknown

Today’s independent commentary deals with these issues:

  • The Western Word Poll
  • Montana Republican Party
  • George W. Bush
  • Donald J. Trump

Last Thursday President Joe Biden announced a six-pronged comprehensive national strategy to combat COVID-19.

You can view the President’s plan HERE.

This week’s poll question asks, “Do you agree with the President’s newest plan to combat COVID-19?”

The results will be posted later this week.

On Saturday, September 11, Montana Republican Party Chairman Don “K” Kaltschmidt released a statement (via email) in remembrance of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.

It was a patriotic non-political statement, but at the end of the press release the Montana GOP decided to add the following:

Montana GOP works hard to ensure our conservative values are kept intact while defending against the Democrats. If you would like to support MTGOP, please consider chipping in $5 or more today!

Political fundraising on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11? Why? That is cheap.

Shame on the Montana Republican Party.

On the 20th anniversary of the deadliest attack on U.S. soil, George W. Bush, who was president at the time, warned of a new danger coming from within the country. (Reuters)

The following lines from his speech, which was given at the 9/11 memorial site in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, was highly reported:

And we have seen growing evidence that the dangers to our country can come not only across borders but from violence that gathers within.
There’s little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But in their disdain for pluralism, in their disregard of human life, in their determination to defile national symbols, they are children of the same foul spirit, and it is our continuing duty to confront them.

In case you missed it, former President Donald J. Trump’s group, “Save America” Launches “You Will Never Be Forgotten” Memorial Video Ahead of 20th Anniversary of 9/11.

  2. If I may I’d like to share this ad that I came upon today. It’s an ad by Richard Mack, a real kook, who started the so called constitutionalist sheriffs organization of which our own sheriff Jesse Slaughter has pledged his loyalty. Jesse and Richard are thick as thieves having appeared in numerous videos together. This group has been labeled hate group for good reason. So it is very disconcerting that Jesse proudly calls himself a member. It’s kinda like the John Birch Society on steroids since the have law enforcement powers.

Take a few minutes to read the articles and watch the videos. They’re short. Go to About and click on it and read their statement of positions. Very informative. As I mentioned, in the land use conflicts that are sure to come our way in the future, I guarantee you that Jesse will support the Bundy militia over regular citizens, for he will enforce or ignore the law as he sees fit. In his mind, the constitutionalist sheriff is the ultimate law, federal law be damned. I’m not sure that people understood this about Jesse since he deceptively ran as a democrat. He must be voted out before he can seriously damage a once fine department.

Also, be sure to listen to Mack’s comments on school boards.
