Quote for the Day…
Birthdays are like boogers, the more you have the harder it is to breathe. -Unknown
In today’s column, I take a quick look at these people/issues:
- Schweitzer Endorses Tranel
- Department of Veterans Affairs
- The Western Word Poll
- Reading Assignments
SCHWEITZER ENDORSES TRANEL:
According to a press release from the Tranel campaign, former Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer is endorsing congressional candidate Monica Tranel in a new ad released by the campaign on Monday. In the ad, filmed on the governor’s ranch, he talks about why Tranel is the best Democrat to win both the primary and general election.
Schweitzer is one of the few Democrats in Montana who has some clout and that his endorsement matters.

DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS:
It was announced Monday that the Department of Veterans Affairs will require its front-line health care workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19, a move that comes as vaccine mandates from employers are on the rise. (The Hill)
This is a good move, although it is a little late. Hospitals should mandate that all their employees be vaccinated.
Those who are not vaccinated are causing problems for the patriots who received the vaccine.
THE WESTERN WORD POLL:
This week’s poll question asks, “Should elected officials tell their constituents that they received the COVID vaccine?”
Results will be released later this week.

And rosendork knows a thing or two about treason! Guess he’s tired of Greene and Boobert getting all the attention. What a embarrassment for Montana.

Brian Schweitzer probably could have beat Gianforte last election but he is done with politics in part because his wife was never comfortable in those roles and wanted him out of it. I think Brian knows Tranel is the least left candidate for the democrats. However he knows it will be a very uphill battle against Zinke who is basically a incumbent. Tranel has more name recognition but my goodness she lost to Jennifer Fielder for PSC a far right wacko. I wouldn’t be surprised if Whitney Williams doesn’t get in the race. Both Williams and Cora Neumann have long time ties to Hillary Clinton which is a death sentence in this state. The democrats need another Brian Schweitzer type but I certainly don’t see one on the horizon. Brian was never popular with the party elite so his followers never gained a foothold in the party leadership. The democrats went way left and forgot about rural Montana and Trump was there to pick them up and now the state is solid red with a few pockets of blue.
Dennis – good points. Thanks, JmB
OMG. No shame and no embarrassment because of the irony. A perfect trumper. I’m sure rosendork and Daines have already signed on. The modern Republican Party of trump.

The Montana Daily Gazette item about Carlson’s fly shop encounter is quite the think piece. 1000+ words weaving together a convoluted conspiracy involving coordinated NSA spying, a CIA subsidiary, the White House, the UN, a guy with the same name as the fly shop (though we never learn the significance), and “the Feds” in general, all pursuing a nefarious scheme to “confront Carlson and create a controversial media cycle”.
Damn. A controversial media cycle. Something to which Carlson is a total stranger. In a fly shop in Livingston that they knew he would visit on a certain day at a certain time. That’s just how good they are. But no space aliens?
Terry- haha. I thought it might generate some interesting comments. Thanks, JmB
