GREAT FALLS FOURTH OF JULY:
In a follow-up to my post yesterday, Great Falls Fire and Rescue posted the following information on their Facebook page:
GFFR had a busy 4th of July weekend. Over 139 total calls for service with 45 calls having a direct correlation to fireworks.
Fires attributed to fireworks include:
31 grass fires
11 dumpster fires
2 structure fires
2 EMS trauma calls
I don’t think those numbers mean freedom or liberty. It puts our first responders in danger as well as the citizens. I think it’s time to re-examine personal fireworks use in the city of Great Falls. I suggest we put it to a vote.
U.S. WOMEN’S SOCCER TEAM:
The uninformed right-wing haters came out in full force in the past few days to condemn the U.S. women’s soccer team for turning their backs on a 98-year-old veteran who performed the National Anthem before their match.
The truth is when the veteran began his performance, some players opted to face him, while others turned to face an American flag at the end of the stadium.
The U.S. Women’s Soccer team posted this on Twitter about turning their backs on the veteran:
Not true. No one turned their back on WWII Veteran Pete DuPré during tonight’s anthem. Some USWNT players were simply looking at the flag on a pole in one end of the stadium. The players all love Pete, thanked him individually after the game and signed a ball for him.
Snopes ruled the claim that the U.S. women’s soccer team turned their backs to protest against a 98-year-old veteran who performed the National Anthem before the team’s match against Mexico false. (Source)
It might be a good idea for the uneducated to check their sources before reposting the stories and spreading hate and lies. Most of the stories I saw that posted false information originated from right-wing websites and Twitter feeds. Shame on you.

I am holding a candlelight vigil tonight for all the Facebook friends I lost because of the shit I post. -Anonymous
Ban’em. I’ve always hated them. Don’t know many combat vets who think they’re fun.
