Tuesday’s Quick Hits

Quote for the day…

Every ending is a beginning. We just don’t know it at the time. ― Mitch Albom

In today’s column, I take a quick look at these people/issues:

  • Great Falls Crime Task Force
  • The Western Word Poll
  • Marjorie Taylor Greene
  • One More Thing

GREAT FALLS CRIME TASK FORCE:

According to the Great Falls Tribune, the Great Falls City Commissioners unanimously confirmed the nine members nominated for the Crime Task Force during their Tuesday night (May 18) meeting.

The members are:

Mary Lynne Billy – Indian Family Health Clinic
Shawna Jarvey – Transition Consultant, Benefis Health
Nicole Griffith – Victim Witness Program
Sandra Guynn – Chair of Neighborhood Council of Councils and President of Crime Stoppers
Sara Sexe – City Attorney
Jeff Newton – Chief of Police
Jesse Slaughter – Cascade County Sheriff
John Parker – District Court Judge
Shane Etzwiler – Chamber of Commerce

There are four members (Sexe, Newton, Slaughter, and Parker) who by taking part in these meetings might take them away from their primary duties, which is fighting crime. As for Parker, a District Court Judge, it’s notable that the District Court is down one judge already, and the district judges moan and complain about their workload every year.

Many members are in jobs whose salaries are paid for by the taxpayers.

Although the public is invited to the meetings, the “Crime Task Force” does not have a “Joe or Jane Six-Pack” on it. That’s too bad.

As for the motto of the “Crime Task Force” I submit this oldie but goodie:

We will continue to have meetings until we find out why no work is getting done.

Seriously though, I wish the best of luck to the Crime Task Force.

Let’s be careful out there! “Book-em Danno!”

THE WESTERN WORD POLL:

There has been a ceasefire declared in the latest Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The dispute has been going on for decades. (Source)

This week’s poll question asks, “Do you support Israel or Palestine in this conflict?”

Click HERE to vote in the poll.

The results will be posted Thursday.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE:

It’s time to expel U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from Congress.

Greene recently responded to Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying members of Congress should get vaccinated and wear masks. Greene said:

This woman is mentally ill. You know, we can look back on a time in history where people were told to wear a gold star and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens. So much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany. And this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about… (Snopes)

These remarks deserve no response. She needs to be removed from Congress. The time is now.

ONE MORE THING::

I saw this on one of the Facebook pages I follow and wanted to share:

Have you noticed the “You lost, get over it,” crowd can’t seem to get over it now that they’ve lost? (American X News)

  1. Rick assured us that no extra cost would be occurred, he even used beer as an example? He also was pretty sure members from the community at large would be included. I do remember he had an idea of setting aside a camp of sorts for the homeless, mentally ill, and addicted, Concentrating them. Offering them jobs. I suspect this will all end with a request that a additional half dozen police be hired.

    • Bill – Thanks. I am not a fan of Commissioner Teton. Maybe they could stop enforcing the silly cellphone ordinance and free up some cops to do some crime stopping! -JmB
