Quote for the day…
You don’t inspire your teammates by showing them how amazing you are. You inspire them by showing them how amazing they are. – Robyn Benincasa
Welcome to another exciting edition of Caught My Eye (CME)!
CME is the once-a-week column that is posted every Friday morning. This is when I look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week.
Here are some of the things that “Caught My Eye” this week:
- Districting & Apportionment Commission
- Montana Attorney General
- Approval Ratings
- Mayor Lori Lightfoot
- Dumbass of The Week
DISTRICTING & APPORTIONMENT COMMISSION:
In case you missed it, MTN News took an early look this week at the Districting and Apportionment Commission and their job of drawing the lines for the two new U.S. House Districts. Montana gained a second seat in the last census.
I don’t think it will be as big a fight as MTN News wants us to believe. As they hash out the new districts, I’ll bet there will be a lot of 3-2 votes that favor the Democrats.

MONTANA ATTORNEY GENERAL:
When former Montana Attorney General Tim Fox was the Attorney General I did not like some of the issues in which he got Montana involved, but I did feel that Fox had integrity and he was honest.
I don’t feel that way about the current Montana Attorney General, Austin Knudsen. Knudsen’s partisanship may rival the U.S. Attorney General’s office during former President Donald Trump’s tenure.
Knudsen is in a fight with the Montana Supreme Court – a fight that he will lose and probably get embarrassed. Lee Newspapers has the story HERE.
In the article, Knudsen talks about his attorneys “…living up to their ethical obligations…”
If he and his team had any ethics, they would stop the political games and start providing Montanans with adequate representation from the AG’s office – representation that does not see blue or red.
APPROVAL RATINGS:
Gallup Polling reported this week that Americans’ approval ratings of President Joe Biden and the U.S. Congress remain stable at 54% and 31%, respectively. Biden’s rating has not varied by more than three percentage points since his inauguration, while the rating for Congress was significantly lower in early January.
Biden needs to get moving on some of his big objectives before Washington gets even more political with the midterms approaching.

MAYOR LORI LIGHTFOOT:
Those on the right made a big deal about Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot saying she would only give interviews to journalists of color. It was blown out of proportion.
CBS News reported it this way:
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Wednesday that she will only be giving one-on-one interviews to reporters of color on the two-year anniversary of her tenure as mayor, saying the City Hall press corps is “overwhelmingly white” in a city that’s much more diverse.
The keywords in that paragraph are “…will only be giving one-on-one interviews to reporters of color on the two-year anniversary of her tenure as mayor…”
One day.
Lightfoot got her point across that journalists of color are few and far between in covering City Hall in Chicago. She made it known that there needs to be diversity.
Lightfoot: 1, Partisan Haters: 0.
DUMBASS OF THE WEEK:
This week’s “Dumbass of the Week” is U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale (R-MT/AL).
Rosendale embarrassed Montana by voting against S. 397, the COVID 19 Hate Crimes Act, this week. Fortunately, the bill passed the House 364-62.
The 62 NAY (No) votes were all Republicans. (Source)
The bill passed the U.S. Senate 94-1. U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) was the only NAY (No) vote. He’s also a dumbass.
In his short tenure in Congress, Rosendale has made a name for himself as an extreme right-wing wacko. Are you also a racist, Matt?
Nonetheless, for his vote against the COVID 19 Hate Crimes Act, Matt Rosendale is this week’s “Dumbass of the Week.”
The bit about “living up to their ethical standards” is a real knee slapper. He seems to forget that we know his Lt. AG, Kristin Hansen, from her time in the legislature. She’s another outta state wack job as kooky as any now serving in our current Lege. She’s all abortion and all guns and all God all the time. Seems that they move here on purpose just to screw up Montana. Her record is still out there for all to see. She’s just the type GG would appoint to the Supreme Court God forbid! Can you imagine a court with Juras and Hansen on it? We’d immediately go from made in Montana to handmaid in Montana! No blue in them two. And of course Juras is most famous for attempting to stop university students from having sex. God apparently told her to stop them. Good luck with that!

Larry – great info. Thanks, JmB
In case anyone’s forgotten, this was GG’s choice for lt. guv. Makes you wonder where his head’s at. Most people thought thought this issue was hilarious until they realized she was dead serious. She’s the original sex Nazi. No sex for you!

Honorary Squad member Rosendale also joined them to vote Nay against additional funding for the Capitol police, demonstrating he does not Back the Blue and has joined those far left libs in the defund movement. Add that to his Nay against the 1/6 investigation commission, apparently because he is trying to protect antifa, the “real” instigators according to the right.
It was a busy week.of extremist votes for Robo-no Rosendale.
Terry – Thanks for the additional information about Rosendale. Sad deal. -JmB
