Quote for the day…
You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore. ― William Faulkner
Welcome to another exciting edition of Caught My Eye (CME)!
CME is the once-a-week column that is posted every Friday morning. This is when I look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week.
Here are some of the things that “Caught My Eye” this week:
- Fully Vaccinated & Masks
- Marine Corps Major
- Matt Gaetz – Call Your Office
- Dumbass of The Week
- One More Thing
FULLY VACCINATED & MASKS:
The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Thursday that if you are fully vaccinated, you can resume activities that you did prior to the pandemic.
The CDC says fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.
I am fully vaccinated, and you should get vaccinated, too.

MARINE CORPS MAJOR:
An active-duty U.S. Marine Corps commissioned officer stationed at the Marine Corps Base Quantico was arrested Thursday in Virginia and charged with crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, which disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress in the process of ascertaining and counting the electoral votes related to the presidential election.
Major Christopher Warnagiris, 40, of Woodbridge, is charged with federal offenses that include assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers; obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder; and obstruction of justice, among other charges. (justice.gov/usao-dc/pr)
If Warnagiris is found guilty, he should face the harshest punishment available since he is an officer in the military. An example needs to be set.

MATT GAETZ – CALL YOUR OFFICE:
The Associated Press (AP) reported this week that a key figure in the federal investigation of Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz is expected to plead guilty to criminal charges next week. Joel Greenberg will appear Monday in federal court in Orlando, Florida, for a change of plea hearing, according to court documents.
The AP also reports that Federal prosecutors are examining whether Gaetz and Greenberg paid underage girls or offered them gifts in exchange for sex, according to people familiar with the matter. Gaetz has vehemently denied the allegations and any wrongdoing and insists he will not resign his seat in Congress.
Gaetz is probably headed for an indictment and expulsion or resignation from Congress.

DUMBASS OF THE WEEK:
This week’s “Dumbass of the Week” is Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga.(Website)
NBC News and other sources reported this week during a House Oversight Committee hearing on the Jan. 6 riot, Clyde said the House floor was not breached and that the supporters of former President Donald Trump who stormed the Capitol behaved “in an orderly fashion.”
Clyde continued with his recall of the event:
“There was an undisciplined mob. There were some rioters, and some who committed acts of vandalism. But let me be clear, there was no insurrection and to call it an insurrection in my opinion, is a bold faced lie. Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol, and walk through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes taking videos and pictures, you know,” he continued.
“If you didn’t know that TV footage was a video from January the sixth, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit,” Clyde said.
For spreading lies, Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., is The Western Word’s “Dumbass of the Week.”
ONE MORE THING:
The greatest rock band in history, REO Speedwagon, has scheduled a show for Helena, Montana, on August 21 at the Helena Civic Center.
More details can be found by clicking HERE.
I have seen REO perform live probably 25-30 times starting back in 1977 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. I have seen them several times in Montana – Billings, Three Forks, and Great Falls.
They always put on a great show!
