I love the poorly educated. – Donald J. Trump
Today’s independent commentary deals with these people/issues:
- Montana Legislature & Abortion
- Farewell Address
- One More Thing
MONTANA LEGISLATURE & ABORTION:
The Republican majority in the Montana Legislature is doing the Republican thing with their new-found power and with a Republican governor to support them.
Tuesday the topic was abortion.
The Associated Press (AP) reports that Montana lawmakers began debating two proposals Tuesday that would restrict access to abortions in the state with one bill that would prohibit abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The other bill would institute rules about abortion pills and regulate access to them.
I’m sure the old farts in the Legislature will tackle the rules and access about mail order Viagra next.
For a little background, according to a September 2020 Gallup poll, about 79% think abortion should be legal in all or under certain circumstances. Back in 2018, Gallup reported that 64% of Americans believe Roe v. Wade should stand, while 28% would like to see it overturned.
Face it, the conservative Montana Legislature will probably pass many pro-life bills, and the conservative governor will sign them into law. It’s probably going to be this way for the next eight years. Maybe the progressives will take this into account as they prepare for the next election season.
It will be up to the courts to decide if these laws are constitutional or not. My guess is they probably won’t be constitutional. The Montana Republicans will keep chipping away at a women’s right to choose until something sticks.
FAREWELL ADDRESS:
In case you missed it, President Donald J. Trump gave his farewell address via video on Tuesday. It was about 20 minutes long. It was a lot like his remarks from rallies with many lies and distortions.
You can read the remarks HERE. You can watch the video HERE.
My conscience is clear; I never voted for Trump in either presidential election. I can’t understand why anyone with half a brain would support him. In four short years, he almost destroyed the USA. The damage he did will take years to overcome, if ever.
To those who supported him, shame on you for being so naive.
ONE MORE THING:

Kevin McCarthy just said, “ Trump hears voices nobody else is hearing”. I guess that could explain a lot.
Bill – Lol. Thanks, JmB
