There is no better test of a man’s integrity than his behavior when he is wrong. ― Marvin Williams
Today’s independent commentary deals with the first night of the Republican National Convention.
Night one of the Republican National Convention is in the books. It was interesting, to say the least. To sum it up, Republicans say Trump is great for America and has fought tirelessly for it. On the other hand, Biden is bad for America.
First off, Kimberly Guilfoyle scares me. Guilfoyle is a former Fox News personality who is currently dating Donald Trump Jr. She works for the Trump campaign. She gave a six-minute speech and yelled at the camera most of the time. She paused for applause a few times, but it was quiet because there wasn’t an audience.
Some said her speech was “bizarre” “dark” “loud” and “unhinged.” It was very strange. Twitter was buzzing. Check it out for yourself, HERE.
The President’s eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr., had his few minutes of fame to promote his father. I think it’s pretty great that the Trump family and girlfriends can be used as fillers for real convention speakers. Junior did not yell that much, but his hands and arms were flailing during the whole 10 minutes. I bet being in the same room with Junior and Kimberly is a dangerous place.
Everywhere a Trump, Trump…
The President made a couple of appearances. He held group discussions with several folks in the White House. One group was essential workers and the other group was hostages freed while Trump has been President. These discussions were held at the White House which I think is wrong to have political events there. On another note, they did not practice social distancing or wear masks.
My favorite speaker of the night was Nikki Haley. Haley is the former Ambassador to the United Nations and former Governor of South Carolina. Many folks wished she was running for President in 2020. Haley is the Republican Kamala Harris.
Maybe we’ll see Haley v. Harris in 2024!
Haley is a loyal Republican soldier who went after Biden and without much to go on, praised Trump for his work during the first term. You can read the transcript from her speech HERE.
Tuesday night we get to hear from First Lady Melania Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Eric Trump, Tiffany Trump, U.S. Senator Rand Paul, and many more! The theme for Tuesday is “Land of Opportunity.”
