TRUMP’S SOLO BRIEFING:

The President re-started the coronavirus task force briefings on Tuesday, but he sailed alone.

He started the journey 10 minutes late and read from prepared remarks. It was boring. Trump was boring. Maybe he was medicated. He never went off-script. It was like story hour at the local library. If this had been a television show, it would have been canceled.

In the end, he held a question-and-answer session for reporters. He did not call any of them names. As he and the press were getting into asking and answering questions, he quit and left the room.

Trump was asked about British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. The question was what he thought about her maybe turning in powerful men. Maxwell has been charged with helping financier Jeffrey Epstein in an elaborate international scheme to recruit teenage girls for sexual liaisons with older men. (Yahoo News)

Trump responded with:

I don’t know. I haven’t really been following it too much. I just wish her well, frankly. I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach and I guess they lived in Palm Beach. But I wish her well, whatever it is. (WH Transcript)

Oddsmakers probably have this covered, but can Trump repeat this performance over and over? I doubt it. I think there’s about a 10% chance he can repeat this performance.

OCASIO-CORTEZ ACCOSTED:

I like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) (AOC). When I posted this story on Facebook, I added, “I enjoy seeing AOC get under people’s skin…”

That does not mean I agree with all of her views. Unlike some in the social media world today, I am a grownup; I can like people and not agree with all their views.

The Hill reported that Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) was passing AOC on the Capitol steps and called her “disgusting” and saying “You are out of your freaking mind.” She said he was being “rude.” Yoho was talking about AOC’s view on crime and policing.

Yoho continued down the steps and then added, “Fucking bitch.”

Yoho seems to have been using Donald Trump’s tactics. Trump can’t stand strong independent women.

As for AOC, she tweeted the following message later:

I never spoke to Rep. Yoho before he decided to accost me on the steps of the nation’s Capitol yesterday.

Believe it or not, I usually get along fine w/ my GOP colleagues. We know how to check our legislative sparring at the committee door.

But hey, “b*tches” get stuff done.
