The longer this goes on the harder it will be to return to a society where pants and bras are required. – Unknown
Welcome to “Caught My Eye” (CME)!
CME is coming to you, STILL, I repeat STILL, coronavirus free, from deep inside an underground bunker in Montana. The bunker also serves as the worldwide headquarters for The Western Word blog!
CME is the once a week column that is posted here every Friday morning. This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. There may be some sarcasm and pointed independent commentary so be warned!
Here are the topics that “Caught My Eye” this week:
- Montana Landlord Association
- Good to Know
- Trump Job Approval
- News Conference Ratings
- One More Thing
MONTANA LANDLORD ASSOCIATION:
Lee Newspapers is reporting that the Montana Landlord Association has demanded Governor Steve Bullock end his order barring landlords from evicting tenants during the COVID-19 crisis. If the governor refuses, the group said it will sue.
I think it’s very petty what the Montana Landlord Association is doing. Maybe the Landlord Association should use some of the lobbying money they spend in the Montana Legislature or even the money they are spending on the lawyers to write a letter to the governor to help their members.
Hey Montana Landlords Association – Things are tough all over – so suck it up.
GOOD TO KNOW:
Montana Governor Steve Bullock issued a directive providing that certain magical creatures may travel throughout Montana to perform essential services. Bullock told Montanans that he has deemed the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, and other magical creatures as essential.
You can read the Directive that was posted by KULR8.com HERE
I’m hoping there will be some huge candy sales next week…
TRUMP JOB APPROVAL:
If you pay attention to the President’s job approval polls, then it’s pretty confusing. I try to post polling on The Western Word Facebook Page as often as I can.
For example, if you only read the headlines then this one makes it sound wonderful:
Fox News Poll: Trump job approval hits new high as voters rally during crisis
If you read the story, the poll found that Trump’s approval was 49% and his disapproval was 49%.
On the other end, a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted about the same time found that Trump’s approval was 42% and his disapproval was 55%.
I check Real Clear Politics every so often to check on polls. You can see the polls HERE.
As we get closer to November, pay attention to the “battleground states” polls (Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin). These states will probably decide who wins the presidency.
NEWS CONFERENCE RATINGS:
Imagine if George W. Bush talked about how high his ratings were after talking to the nation after the 9/11 attacks. Imagine if, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt told the nation and reporters in a press conference how proud he was of his ratings when he told the nation of the attack.
President Donald Trump says we are at war with the coronavirus pandemic. Thousands are sick and dying. Trump says this:
Because the “Ratings” of my News Conferences etc. are so high, “Bachelor finale, Monday Night Football type numbers” according to the
@nytimes, the Lamestream Media is going CRAZY. “Trump is reaching too many people, we must stop him.” said one lunatic. See you at 5:00 P.M.!
Trump is the lunatic.
ONE MORE THING:
During a September 2015 appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Donald Trump was asked if he ever makes apologies. He responded:
I think apologizing is a great thing, but you have to be wrong. I will absolutely apologize, sometime in the hopefully distant future, if I’m ever wrong.
Check out 30 of Donald Trump’s wildest quotes HERE.
