Don’t blame a clown for acting like a clown. Ask yourself why you keep going to the circus. – Unknown
Tuesday’s Quick Hits is the column where I post a short narrative from recent major stories and provide brief commentary.
Today’s quick hits deal with these important subjects:
- Bullock Suspends
- Trump Won’t Participate
- Pray for 45 T-Shirt
- One More Thing
BULLOCK SUSPENDS:
With a post on Twitter at 4:35 a.m. on Monday, Montana Governor Steve Bullock (D) announced that he was suspending his campaign for President. He linked to a longer statement that you can read HERE.
It was also reported that Bullock said he was not going to run for the U.S. Senate, although he has until 5:00 pm on March 9, 2020, to make a final decision. That means Team Daines (Republican U.S. Senator Steve Daines) will be on full alert until then. Bullock would be Daines’ only stiff competition.
I kind of admire Bullock for spending so much time in Iowa. In my opinion, Iowa is the toilet bowl of the USA. So spending any days there is commendable.
TRUMP WON’T PARTICIPATE:
Several sources including Fox News reported that the White House announced in a fiery letter Sunday night that President Trump and his lawyers won’t participate in the House Judiciary Committee’s first impeachment hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
If they did, it would make for some great television.
I guess it’s kind of hard for Trump & Friends to whine that it is an unfair process when they were invited to participate and declined.
If Trump would participate I would hope we’d see “A Few Good Men” remake and Trump would scream at the committee chair and say, “You can’t handle the truth!”
It looks as though that Trump is going to play “the victim card” for the remainder of the impeachment process and hope those who voted for him in 2016 will feel sorry and vote for him in 2020.
That’s a dangerous game.
Like I have been saying all along, Trump will be impeached in the House, but he won’t be convicted in the Senate. We’ll see if it damages his reelection chances.
PRAY FOR 45 T-SHIRT:
Evangelist Franklin Graham is promoting “PRAY for 45” t-shirts that you can buy through the Billy Graham bookstore:
The Bible says to pray for “all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:2, NKJV). Wear this t-shirt as a reminder to lift up our president in prayer. 100% Preshrunk Cotton. Available in sizes S – 3X.
The shirts are $15.99.
I do believe that we should pray for our leaders. I think the difference between Franklin Graham and me is that I pray for our leaders whether they are Democrats or Republicans or whether they are white or black.
I checked to see if Graham had “PRAY for 44” t-shirts (Barack Obama) and surprisingly my search came back with no results.
To me, that shows that Franklin Graham is a hypocrite.
Graham is going down a dangerous path. I think the late Billy Graham would be embarrassed about his son’s actions.
ONE MORE THING:
Don’t forget to vote in The Western Word poll this week! I am asking readers, “Which team (Bobcats or Grizzlies) will go further in the 2019 FCS Football Playoffs?”
Vote by clicking HERE.
The results will be posted on Friday.
