Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. – 1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV)
Today (February 4) is Super Bowl Sunday. It’s the last NFL game until August when preseason starts. The 2018 regular season begins September 6.
Football is my favorite sport to watch, so when the season ends it leaves a big void in my life.
I played football in middle and high school and played some intramural football when I was in the Air Force. I think playing football developed teamwork and camaraderie and made me a better person. It was probably the second-most important thing I did in my life to help me grow – right behind serving in the military.
Competition is good for a person. Learning how to win and lose graciously is a couple of skills that are needed in life. Football gives players a chance to develop those skills.
Enjoy the game today and remember that next year my Kansas City Chiefs will be in the big game. 🙂
Football is like life – it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority. – Vince Lombardi
