Terrific News Tuesday

We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated. – Maya Angelou

Welcome to Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!

In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • The Bear Hug
  • Western Art Week
  • We Dine Together
  • The Interview
  • NCAA Tournaments

The Bear Hug:

During the recent State Class AA Girls’ Tournament in Great Falls, Montana, Billings West’s mascot (a bear) was seen by 6-year-old Cooper Crosby looking sad and sitting alone. The bear’s team was losing.

So he walked over to the bear and gave him a hug. His dad filmed the hug. Read the story and watch the video HERE.

Thanks to Cooper for giving us a smile!

Western Art Week:

It’s time for the annual Western Art Week in Great Falls, Montana, this week (March 15-19). There are many great art shows around town. The Great Falls Tribune has a schedule of events HERE.

The Western Art Week website can be accessed HERE.

We Dine Together:

From CBS News “On the Road” with Steve Hartman…

When the lunch bell rings at Boca Raton Community High School in Boca Raton, Florida, 3,400 kids spill into the courtyard and split into their social groups. But not everyone gets included. Here at Boca High and at schools across the country, someone always sits alone.

So a group of students started a club called “We Dine Together” in which members find students who are sitting alone and talk to them.

Read/watch the rest of the story HERE.

The Interview:

Professor Robert Kelly was discussing the impeachment of South Korean President in a live television interview from his home when his child entered the room dancing. Then the other child showed up in a walker. Then the mother shows up. Funny stuff.

The professor will probably think twice before he does another interview from home!

NCAA Tournaments:

It’s that time of year – the NCAA Tournaments kick off this week – so don’t forget to fill out a bracket! There will be tons of basketball on television for the next few weeks – and that is a good thing!

Here is the men’s bracket.

Here is the women’s bracket.

Good luck!
