GF Tribune Carrier Saves Life:

From the Great Falls Tribune

In the early-morning hours a week ago the temperature was dropping and so was the snow, and 79-year-old Kay Ruggles couldn’t sleep. So she went outside and started scooping snow – it was about 2:30 in morning.

Then she fell and could not get up, but the good news is that her Great Falls Tribune carrier, Leroy Scherlie, found her about an hour later. Read the rest of the story HERE.

It’s a good thing she subscribes to the paper edition and not just the electronic edition of the Trib…

NFL Play 60:

MTN Sports reported that Mountain View Elementary school in Great Falls won a fundraising contest to become the first-ever school in Montana to host an NFL Play 60 event, which meant they got a visit from a special visitor, NFL return man, and local Montana hero, Marc Mariani.

Marc Mariani is one of the good guys in the NFL…

On the Road:

From this week’s On the Road with Steve Hartman…

Sophomore Caleb Swanigan, number 50 for the Purdue Boilermakers, may be the most talented college basketball player in the country. But he is also the most unlikely.

The new Caleb is a college basketball star. The old Caleb weighed over 360 pounds in 8th grade; the only thing the kid could dunk was a cookie. He was also homeless.

Free Pancakes Tuesday:

USA Today is reporting that from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time Tuesday (TODAY), International House of Pancakes will have its 12th annual National Pancake Day, and participating International House of Pancakes restaurants are giving away free short stacks of three buttermilk pancakes.

In return, IHOP asks that you make a donation to their charitable partners. Every stack served helps IHOP reach their goal of raising $3.5 million for children battling critical illnesses. More details can be found HERE.

Bank the Turtle:

After a four-hour operation, veterinarians removed 915 coins from a 25-year-old green sea turtle from Thailand, named “Bank.” The coins weighed about 11 pounds. Bank lived in a pool in which people threw coins for good luck.(Buzzfeed.com)

Bank is now on the road to recovery!
