Be nice to people on your way up because you’ll meet them on your way down. – Wilson Mizner

Welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!

In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • Day of Giving
  • Great Falls Polar Plunge
  • On the Road
  • Hello Dolly
  • My Cause My Cleats

Day of Giving:

Today (Tuesday) in Great Falls, Pierce Carpet Mill Outlet and other organizations are hosting the “Day of Giving” at the Pierce Carpet Mill Outlet Parking lot (1204 7th St South).

You can donate to the Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, and Great Falls Community Food Bank from 6am-6pm.

More info can be found HERE and HERE.

Great Falls Polar Plunge:

This week’s “On the Road” with Steve Hartman is about a nighttime encounter that leads to an unlikely friendship between a white cop and a black teen.

Hello Dolly:

Dolly Parton, one of country music’s most enduring entertainers, said she will donate $1,000 a month to each family that has been left homeless by the wildfires that destroyed much of a town and left at least seven people dead in her home state, Tennessee, this week. (NY Times)

My Cause My Cleats:

NFL players honored the charity of choice by wearing customized cleats this past week. “My Cause My Cleats” is a social campaign designed to help raise awareness for different causes.

In partnership with The Players’ Tribune, the “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign aims to raise money for causes with custom cleats to be auctioned off by the NFL, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the cause the cleats were designed to support. (SBNation.com)

The two teams who had a bye week last week (Titans/Browns) will wear their customized cleats this week.
