Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. – Matthew 5:9 (NIV)
In our country we have gone through a period where several law enforcement people were killed or injured in the line of duty. It seems evil has taken a foothold in the form of terrorism or when people shoot and kill police officers. It seems we may have forgotten that the police represent authority in our country. They may not always do their jobs perfectly, but we must obey them.
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. – Romans 13:1 (NIV)
It can never be “OK” in this country to harm police officers – it cannot become normal.
Every police officer who is responding to a call has someone who loves them and is waiting for them at home.
Many years ago, my daughter attended a daycare at a church. No matter what they were doing, when they would hear a siren they would pause for a few minutes to pray for the first responders and for the people they were going to help.
The funny thing is that the church was not far from a fire department, so they prayed a lot!
The next time you hear a siren, please take a moment to pray for the safety of the first responders and for those who need their help.
Have a great week!
