You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. – C. S. Lewis
Hey kids – welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!
In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!
Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:
- Scouting for Food Drive
- MTN’s Scam/Fraud Alert
- Vietnam Veterans – Thank You!
- MLB Opening Day
- Spring Practice
- UCONN Women
Scouting for Food Drive:
It was another great year for the Boy Scouts in Great Falls. KFBB-TV reported that Great Falls residents donated more than 19,567 pounds of food during the 22nd Annual Scouting for Food drive. That is more than 5,000 pounds collected during the 2015 event.
This is a worthwhile program that really helps those in need – it’s still not too late to donate. According to KFBB-TV, if you would like to participate, or if the Scouts missed a donation, food items can be dropped off at the Great Falls Community Food Bank located at 1620 12th Ave North, or the Boy Scouts’ Service Center located at 820 17th Ave. South until Monday, April 4th.
MTN’s Scam/Fraud Alert:
MTN’s Dennis Carlson does a great job telling viewers what types of scams are happening here in Montana. The latest scam is someone calling claiming they are IRS agents and that you owe back taxes. You can read about it HERE.
Thanks to Carlson and MTN for keeping us informed.
Vietnam Veterans – Thank You!
It’s good to see that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will be conducting hundreds of events in VA facilities across the nation on Mar. 29 (today) to recognize, honor, and thank U.S. Vietnam Veterans and their families for their service and sacrifices as part of the national Vietnam War Commemoration. (VA)
Thanks to all the Vietnam veterans and their families.
MLB Opening Day:
Major League Baseball’s opening day is this Sunday, April 3. The home opener of the World Series Champion Kansas City Royals is that night.

We’re a little closer to football season! Spring practice for many college football programs is starting across the country!

Connecticut Huskies Women’s Basketball:
The Connecticut Huskies women’s basketball program has made women’s college basketball better. They have dominated for several years and won 10 National Championships. They are in the Final Four once again this year. Under current coach Geno Auriemma, the Huskies have a winning percentage of .877.
Winning championships year after year is no easy task. Keeping your players motivated to play their best season after season is why Auriemma is right up there with John Wooden of UCLA.
I’ve enjoyed watching women’s college basketball for years. Fundamentally, they are superior to men.
