I’m always intrigued by movies that portray a story in the Bible, shows Christianity or talks about faith. They walk a fine line when making a movie about those subjects because there are so many different beliefs.
There are a lot of people waiting to pounce on the people who made the movie if it does not agree completely with the way they interpret the Bible.
Some of the movies I’ve seen in the past were ridiculed by Christians for what they felt was not a correct interpretation of the Bible. What these movies did for me was make me want to re-examine the section of the Bible that the movie portrayed. Maybe I agreed with the movie, maybe I did not. So what? I think anything that makes a person want to study the Bible more is a good thing. It sure beats just complaining about it!
Here are three movies that caught my attention recently that in one way or the other deals with the Bible or Christianity or faith:
The movie “Risen” is a depiction of events surrounding Christ’s missing body after his crucifixion:
“Risen” is in theaters now.
The movie “Miracles From Heaven” is about a young girl suffering from a rare digestive disorder finds herself miraculously cured after surviving a terrible accident.
“Miracles From Heaven” will be in theaters around March 18.
“The Young Messiah” is the story of seven-year-old Jesus Christ and his family as they come to a fuller understanding of His divine nature and purpose.
“The Young Messiah” will be in theaters March 16.
