Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. – Psalm 51:10 (NIV)
Do you make New Year’s resolutions? According to the Cambridge dictionary, a New Year’s resolution is a promise that you make to yourself to start doing something good or stop doing something bad on the first day of the year.
Some people will make a resolution to try to lose weight or exercise more or save money or help other people more. One article I found said that two out of three resolutions fail.
One great thing to resolve to do is read the Bible more. I don’t read my Bible too much these days – I listen to it via my smartphone on a Bible app. Some days you will find me with my headphones on doing work around the house or going for a walk while listening to the Bible on my phone.
I listen to a version of the Bible called “The New International Version” (NIV) which makes things clearer and easier to understand and it’s in today’s language. It’s set at about an eighth-grade reading level. There are other versions that may be better for you.
There are many programs and apps out there for Bible reading. Check out a website like “You Version” to download the Bible to your phone, computer, or tablet, and find a version of the Bible and a reading plan that fits your needs.
I hope that 2016 will be your best year ever – God bless you!
## Happy New Year ##
