Failure at some point in your life is inevitable, but giving up is unforgivable. – Joe Biden
Welcome to “Thursday Numbers!” In case you’re a first time visitor, this is the weekly column where I take a look at the numbers that are in the news (in descending order) and provide commentary sometimes sprinkled with just a little bit of sarcasm.
This week’s topics include Donald Trump, unemployment, DHS administrative leave, Vice President Joe Biden, wingsuit skydivers, National Rifle Association (NRA), marijuana, Mick Holien and the Montana Grizzlies, NFL head coaches in trouble, Kansas City Royals, and much more!
That’s how many people filed new claims for unemployment last week. (Source)
According to a story in The Hill, Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump is closing in on 100 days atop the Republican primary polls. (Source)
Watch out – Trump is gaining traction…
That’s how many Department of Homeland Security staffers have been on administrative leave for more than a year – some even longer. (Source)
Great work if you can get it…
That’s the age of Vice President Joe Biden who announced yesterday that he will not be running for President. (Source)
I always liked Biden – he was fun to watch in action when he was on the Judiciary committee in the Senate.
That’s how many wingsuit skydivers soared over California in a diamond-shaped formation setting a new record and shattering the old record of 42. (Source)
Is this a great country or what?
That’s the percentage of people who have a favorable opinion of the National Rifle Association (NRA) according to Gallup.
That’s the percentage of people who believe marijuana use should be legal in the United States according to Gallup.
I wonder if it’s the same 58% who have a favorable opinion of the NRA…
That’s how many years Mick Holien has been the radio voice of the Montana Grizzlies. This is his last year because Grizzly Sports Properties, which according to the Missoulian is a division of Learfield Sports, did not renew his contract.
I enjoyed listening to Holien on the radio over the years. He does a great job.
That is a pretty cheap and disgusting move by Grizzly Sports Properties and Learfield Sports. Shame on them.
Courtesy of USA Today Sports, here are the seven NFL head coaches who are in danger of losing their jobs.
The best thing that Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has going for him is that the Royals have all the attention of Kansas City sports fans.
The Kansas City Royals are one win away from advancing to the World Series for the second consecutive year.
Maybe the home plate umpire will wear his glasses for game 6…
