Even if a unity of faith is not possible, a unity of love is. – Hans Urs von Balthasar
It’s pretty amazing when different religions agree on anything, so when I read about the Parliament of the World’s Religions meeting October 15-19 in Salt Lake City, I was interested.
The conference will be attended by up to 10,000 people who are representing about 50 faith traditions from 80 countries.
The most interesting fact is that they have been meeting since 1893. Yes 1893.
Their mission statement says the Parliament of the World’s Religions was created to cultivate harmony among the world’s religious and spiritual communities and foster their engagement with the world and its guiding institutions in order to achieve a just, peaceful and sustainable world. They seek to promote interreligious harmony, rather than unity.
That sounds like a great reason to get together.

Have a great week!
