We need to avoid a common temptation nowadays: to discard whatever proves troublesome. Let us remember the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Matthew 7:12). – Pope Francis (Speech to U.S. Congress)
Different religions have always intrigued me. It’s interesting to read about what people believe and why they believe it in regard to their religion. It’s also interesting how people can take a verse from the Bible and see it differently.
I am not a Catholic, but Catholicism is one of the religions that interest me. I’ve asked my Catholic friends many questions over the years about their religion. Most people are happy to answer questions about their religion if the questions are asked in non-condescending manner.
As an outsider, I think Pope Francis is doing a great job. He seems to be more down to earth than previous Popes. I guess that’s why he is known as “The People’s Pope.”
When the Pope spoke to Congress, he talked about many of the issues that are important to us like immigration, abortion, death penalty, and climate change.
Since these issues are important enough for the Pope to speak about before Congress, maybe we should be paying more attention to them.
