The Sunday Message

We know that God makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are chosen to be a part of His plan.Romans 8:28 (NLV)

On Friday the U.S. Supreme Court issued their decision on the OBERGEFELL v. HODGES in which they ruled that same-sex marriage was legal in all states.

It was not long before some Christians and some Christian organizations were basically shouting that the sky was falling on Christianity. For example, the Family Research Council sent this email to their subscribers:

It is part of an unrelenting war on Christianity and the family by the Left, liberal media, ruling elites and especially the Obama administration. And now, because of the Court’s ruling, our religious freedom is more in danger than ever before.

I’m a Christian and I woke up on Saturday morning with the same freedoms I’ve always had. My sky did not fall. I was still able to pray out loud. I checked my church’s website and they are still having church services at the same time on Sunday.

God is still good folks.

Here is exactly what the U.S. Supreme Court said about religion in their OBERGEFELL v. HODGES decision:

Finally, it must be emphasized that religions, and those who adhere to religious doctrines, may continue to advocate with utmost, sincere conviction that, by divine precepts, same-sex marriage should not be condoned. The First Amendment ensures that religious organizations and persons are given proper protection as they seek to teach the principles that are so fulfilling and so central to their lives and faiths, and to their own deep aspirations to continue the family structure they have long revered. The same is true of those who oppose same-sex marriage for other reasons.

If you did not like same-sex marriage before the decision on Friday, you can still not like it on Saturday. That’s the First Amendment working for you and me.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.John 13:34 (NIV)

Have a great week!
