- Tester & Security Clearances
- Pioneer League Baseball
- Taylor Swift & Apple

- Surfing on the Big Board
It was good to hear South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley saying the Confederate flag should be removed from the grounds of the state capitol. (Source)
Now we’ll see how the South Carolina legislature reacts.
Zinke and the Republican Address:
U.S. Representative Ryan Zinke (R-MT) has only been serving in Congress since January (around 166 days), but he was chosen by House Speaker John Boehner to deliver the Weekly Republican Address last Saturday (June 20).
Whether you agree with Zinke’s politics or not, it’s still terrific news that he was selected to give the Republican address.
Tester and Security Clearances:
U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) was able to get an amendment attached to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which would strengthen security clearance background checks, prevent insider threats, and enhance security for sensitive federal facilities. (Source)
This is something that is drastically needed.
The NDAA passed the Senate and now must be reconciled with the House version of the bill.
Pioneer League Baseball:
The boys of summer are back! Last week the Pioneer League baseball teams started their season. There are games scheduled throughout the summer until September 8.
According to their website, the Pioneer Baseball League is a short-season, professional minor league with teams in Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. You can find more information and schedules HERE.
Taylor Swift and Apple:
Many folks involved in the music business can thank Swift for taking on Apple and getting them to pay full royalty rates for the first 90 days. (Source)
It’s tough to make it in the music business, but with help from mega-stars like Swift the road can be a little less rocky for those just starting out.
Price of Pot:
This may be terrific news for some – the price of an ounce of marijuana in Montana is about 12.2% cheaper than the U.S. average ($286.35). You can check the price in your state HERE.
In states where recreational marijuana is legal (like Washington, Oregon, and Colorado), it’s 23.9% to 33.6% cheaper than the U.S. average.
Congrats to the sixty-six surfers who set a world record for most people riding a surfboard at once. They rode the big board for 12 seconds. (Source)
It was a very big board…
