My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me. – Jim Valvano
Happy Father’s Day!
My dad passed away in 1996. There’s hardly a day goes by that I don’t think of him or wish he was around so I could talk to him just one more time.
I probably went through three phases with my dad. When I was young he was my hero. When I was a teenager I rebelled against him – I was not very nice to him or my mother – but for some reason they still loved me, believed in me, and were always in my corner. As I became an adult, I realized my dad was very wise and I sought his counsel on many topics.
So take a minute today to say thanks to your Dad. Call him or go visit him if he lives close by. If he’s passed on like mine, take a minute to tell your wife and/or your kids some stories about your Dad.
In the end all we have is the memories…
