It’s time for another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT).

Veterans Memorial Ceremony:
A salute to all those who honored the six deceased veterans at a ceremony in Great Falls last Friday – especially those who lined the route of the funeral procession to Helena. A special salute goes to the Missing in America Project and Croxford Funeral Home for making it happen.
The unclaimed remains of several veterans were found in a Great Falls funeral home by personnel from the Missing in America Project. Six of those veterans were included in the ceremony and were interred at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison in Helena.
One of the many great things I discovered about Great Falls when I moved here over 25 years ago was that the residents here overwhelmingly support veterans and military personnel. That is not always the case in other places.
The Associated Press reported that a survey they conducted showed a decrease in abortions of about 12 percent since 2010. That decrease also includes Montana, where the AP in Montana reported there were 1,842 abortions in 2013, the latest year for which information was available, compared with 2,160 in 2010.
This is a good thing which is probably something on which both sides of the issue can agree.
I was beginning to think that a horse wouldn’t win the Triple Crown again in my lifetime. Younger folks probably thought it would never happen in their lives, but it did. American Pharoah was just the 12th horse to win the Triple Crown. It had been 37 years since the last winner.
Many people were having problems with spell-check when writing about the horse. Here’s an article that explains the spelling of American Pharoah.
Thanks to Patrick Douglas of the Great Falls Tribune who compiled a list of regional summer concerts. You can see who’s playing in Salt Lake City, Seattle, Denver, Boise, Spokane, the Gorge Amphitheater, Red Rocks, and Calgary. See the list HERE.
If you’re not leaving the state, he put together a separate list of Montana concerts. You can see that list HERE.
I applaud the University of Great Falls and/or the City of Great Falls for building sidewalks completely around the University on 20th Street South to 16th Avenue South over to 23rd Street South and up to 10th Avenue South to the Albertsons/Target shopping complex. The sidewalk also extends south on 23rd Street South past the Great Falls College MSU to the Social Security Administration building near 21st Avenue South.
I walk this route several times a week and it’s nice not to have to dodge gopher holes. Thank you!
Kentucky Fried Chicken:
Kentucky Fried Chicken is back in Great Falls! There were long lines, but my wonderful wife surprised me with a bucket of chicken Sunday afternoon!
