Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. – 1 John 2:6 (ESV)
I was reading some of my friends’ Facebook posts the other day and started thinking about all the people I’ve known over the years, and how many of them called themselves “Christians.”
I have many friends who are Christians and serve God in some capacity. Of the hundreds of people I’ve meet over the years in church and out of church there are just a few who “walk in the same way” as Jesus.
Excluding family and pastors, I think I could count five or six people who fit into this category and, no, I won’t list their names here. Here are some of their characteristics.
- First – They seem to always be friendly and they are armed with a smile and something nice to say. They are happy.
- Second – They never seem to have a negative thing to say about another person – they have a strong desire to love their neighbor.
- Third – When they pray you actually feel like they have God’s attention – like they have a direct line to the big guy! These are the people you want praying for you in your time of need.
- Finally – After a few minutes of being around them, you can tell they live a life for God.
There are not a lot of people like this, although I honestly believe the world would be better if there was. If you know someone like this, get closer to them!
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. – Luke 10:27 (NIV)
