It probably causes deep pain and discomfort to some folks who read Romans 13:1. Some people interpret Romans 13:1 as saying that anyone who is in authority has been basically appointed to that position by God.

I guess that passage causes misery to those who dislike Barack Obama, or to those who dislike George W. Bush.

I can already hear some holier-than-thou people saying, “My God would not allow XXXX to be President.”

Relax folks. God is in control.

We may not understand what God does right now, but I believe we will.

Although we may not understand all of what God does, one has to believe that with some people who have been placed in authority, God does have a great sense of humor…
