Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. – Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
I like to take walks to get away from it all. Sometimes the anxiety that comes from living is just too much, so I need to get away and walking helps me. I used to log mile after mile running, but the knees are almost worn out so it’s a mile or two by walking these days. I really miss running.
Of course, when I am “getting away from it all” I have earphones in listening to the radio – normally Air1 which plays contemporary Christian music. Then I need to know how far I walked, so I have an App on my Blackberry counting my steps and miles. I also have a timer on my phone to see how long it takes me to get where I am going.
Yes, I really am getting away from it all!
I have found that no matter what I use to get away from it all, God is there. We have some great talks while I am walking along enjoying my time away from it all.
Give it a try!
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
