…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. –Romans 3-23
One day a driver flipped me off and yelled obscenities at me because he or she thought I was driving too slow, or for some other reason unbeknownst to me. As the car sped past me I noticed a bumper sticker on his/her car that read, “Not Perfect Just Forgiven.”
People like that give Christians a bad name. That bumper sticker is true, though.
Do you know that “all have sinned” means all? Everyone! The preacher on the TV has sinned. The Pope has sinned. The pastor, reverend, the elder, the deacon, the person who cleans the church, the church secretary – yes they all sin and fall short of the glory of God.
That holier-than-thou neighbor? Yes, they too have sinned.
I have sinned.
Over the years that I have been a Christian, I have found that fellow Christians can be the biggest jerks and sometimes they are more hateful than non-Christians. I have found that putting my faith in a pastor or some leader in a church will probably lead me to be disappointed.
There’s an easy answer to that problem: Put your faith in God. God won’t disappoint you.
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. –Deuteronomy 31:8
