Caught My Eye…

Welcome to your Friday favorite – “Caught My Eye!” Thank you for stopping by.

If this is your first time visiting The Western Word the “Caught My Eye” column is posted every Friday morning! This is when I take a quick look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. I often throw in a touch of sarcasm just to make you smile – or maybe to irritate you just a little.

Today I write about Real Conservatives, ObamaCare, Impeachment, a Google Search, Preparing for the Race, plus there’s a winner who is Making Montana Proud!

MT GOP Ignoring Real Conservatives?

A few folks in the Montana Republican Party are not happy, happy, happy. The local CBS station ran a story that caught my eye about Champ Edmunds and David Leaser. They are two Republican U.S. Senate candidates who seem to think the leaders of the Montana GOP are favoring Congressman Steve Daines, who is also running for the senate.

THIS JUST IN: Edmunds and Leaser are correct!

The Montana GOP’s sun currently rises and sets with Daines, so Edmunds and Leaser need to get over it and stop whining. If Daines is so RINO (Republican In Name Only) meaning he is not conservative enough for people like Edmunds, then Edmunds should run as a Libertarian. Montana will then elect Democrat John Walsh as their next U.S. Senator. It’s really that simple.

Heck, there may even be some Democratic supporters who would throw some money your way…

Is the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) circling the drain? Any problems the law has can’t be fixed legislatively because the GOP won’t vote for anything except to defund it. Even some Democrats up for election in 2014 are starting to be afraid of the law.

According to the Associated Press, President Obama “announced changes to his health care law to give insurance companies the option to keep offering consumers plans that would otherwise be canceled.” These are administrative changes that often happen with laws. Nobody really knows if it will help or not.

The President also said his team had “fumbled the rollout” of the health care law. Correct! To be honest, I think the Obamacare ball is still bouncing around some.

I’d really like to see the Republicans and Democrats work together to make the Affordable Care Act work for all citizens.

“You, you may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one”

The Hill reported late Thursday “A total of 20 House Republicans signed on to a proposal Thursday calling for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder.” They are led by Texas Republican Rep. Pete Olson.

According to The Hill, the others are: Reps. Larry Bucshon (Ind.), Blake Farenthold (Texas), David Roe (R-Tenn.), Randy Weber (R-Texas), Lynn Westmoreland (Ga.), Roger Williams (Texas), Ted Yoho (Fla.) Louie Gohmert (Texas), Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Bill Flores (Texas), Mark Amodei (Nev.), Jim Bridenstine (Okla.), Scott DesJarlais (Tenn), Jeff Duncan (S.C.), Duncan Hunter (Calif.), Sam Johnson (R-Texas), Steve Stockman (R-Texas), Mike Conaway (R-Texas), and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.).

We can also call these 20 Republicans, “The Crazies.”

A Google Search?

The Associated Press reported Wednesday, “The Air Force will more carefully screen future candidates for nuclear commander positions as a result of the recent firing of the two-star general overseeing land-based nuclear missiles, the general in charge of the service said Wednesday.”

They will dig very deep during the pre-screening process, which “will include a Google search, a simple task that hadn’t been done before.”

You know, and maybe this is going out on a limb, but since these people deal with nuclear weapons, after Google maybe they should check Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest…

Making Montana Proud:

This section is where I mention people or groups whose actions embarrass Montana in some way.

From the Billings Gazette: Brandon Lee Houck, 29, was “arrested Saturday in Billings after being pulled over for driving a vehicle on three tires.” Three tires. The Gazette also reported he was charged with felony criminal endangerment, drunken driving, drug possession, driving without a license, and without insurance.

His 3-year-old son was also in the vehicle.

Officers also found a bottle of “cheap wine” in the vehicle, which should be a felony…
