BREAKING/UPDATE: In the Navy (Part III)

Several news sources are reporting the Captain Owen Honors will be allowed to stay in the Navy.

Honors was the Executive Officer (XO) on the USS Enterprise in 2006-2007 when the videos (called XO Movie Night) were played on board the aircraft carrier.  Honors was then promoted to Commander of the USS Enterprise and that was the position in which he was relieved of duty.

This afternoon Reuters is reporting:

A Navy panel ruled on Wednesday that the captain of an aircraft carrier who was penalized for producing bawdy videos with slurs against gays can remain in the service, officials said.

This is the right move by the United States Navy – it was misconduct and he should be reprimanded, but the United States has spent millions of dollars training this man – from his time in the Naval Academy to his training U.S. Naval Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) to the Commander of the most well-known aircraft carrier sailing the world – they should punish him and retain him.
