Caught My Eye…

Congratulations on making it to another wonderful Friday! Thanks for stopping by!

I wanted to call this the “Judgment Day” issue of Caught My Eye (CME), but I don’t think the Rapture is coming on Saturday, just as I don’t believe it will rain enough today to cause me to build an ark. In case you are wondering what this is all about, please take a moment to read one of my most-read columns “May 21, 2011 – Are you ready?” It can be read by clicking HERE.

CME is published on Friday mornings and it is where I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week – and I sometimes add a little sarcasm in my commentary.

This week I take a look at eating, flying, marriage, Lance Armstrong, my political inbox and lots more! Since it is raining today (in many places) grab a cup of something warm, sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s edition of Caught My Eye…

Two all-beef patties, special sauce…

This man ate his 25,000th Big Mac. He is skinny and healthy. Some people have all the luck! I like Quarter Pounders with cheese. Double Quarter Pounders are good, too. I am not skinny…

Speaking of eating too many Big Macs:

Too Fat to Fly – I wonder if the bags still fly free for these people.

Save Ronald McDonald:

The food police are out and about. The question is: Who drives the kids to McDonalds…

Lemon-flavored?

This is not a good place to “store” anything. I may run next time I see an ice cream truck…

The Greatest Marriage Proposal Ever?

In case you have not seen it, watch this video and see what you think!  It will at least make you feel good!

LLA (Leave Lance Alone):

Another (jealous) person looking for a few minutes of fame came forward and said that Lance Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs. Armstrong tweeted this response:

20+ year career. 500 drug controls worldwide, in and out of competition. Never a failed test. I rest my case.

The Political Inbox:

This week’s political inbox can be boiled down to one name, Harry Reid…

-The Montana GOP sent me an e-mail with the subject, “Harry Reid: Tester’s Swipe Fee Delay Would Hurt Montana Small Businesses” The Montana GOP writes, “It seems Senator Tester’s ‘pay-to-play’ scheme doesn’t pay off for Montana small businesses. In today’s edition of The Hill, fellow Democrat Sen. Harry Reid ripped Sen. Tester’s wall street plan, stating that it would be “unfair to small businesses.”

Poor Jon Tester; he campaigned so hard across Nevada for his friend Harry Reid and now Harry does this to him…

-The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) sent an e-mail from Harry Reid with the subject “No Brainer” where he writes, “It’s a no-brainer: Big Oil doesn’t need taxpayer subsidies.” He also writes, “It’s unfair, and it MUST stop. But last night, Republicans derailed a Democratic bill that would end this double-fisted cash grab and save $21 billion.”

Some folks believe the Republicans stopped oil prices from rising even further with that vote…

-The Campaign of Denny Rehberg sent an e-mail with the subject “Help Denny take power away from Harry Reid” and he writes, “Montana is the frontline in the battle to regain control of the U.S. Senate. This race stands to be one of the most important races in the country for taking the gavel away from Harry Reid and his tax and spend allies, like Senator Tester.”

Tying Jon Tester to Harry Reid and Barack Obama is a good campaign move…

Senator Jon Tester sent an e-mail with the subject “Hiring our Heroes” in which he writes “This week, I introduced legislation to fight unemployment among our veterans.”

Tester knows that the Veterans vote is very important for him to get re-elected – so the question is which candidate (Tester or Rehberg) can do the best job of getting veterans to side with them.

-The Montana Democratic Party was not quiet this week. They sent an e-mail with this subject, “Unanswered Questions for Montana’s Millionaire Congressman” in which they link to a few anti-Rehberg letters to the editor from around the state.

Letters to the editor are very important in political campaigns – and having someone monitor and respond to on-line commentaries in the state newspapers should be a top priority, too.
