Caught My Eye…

Here we are at the end of another year – another decade. They seem to go by quickly as I get older. Time to cue up Auld Lang Syne

I always liked the late Dan Fogelberg song, “Same Old Lang Syne” which was based on an actual event in his life. Memories…

Since it’s Friday and New Year’s Eve, what would be better than another edition of Caught My Eye! In this column I take a quick look at some of the items in the news that I did not have time to write about during the week – and sometimes I add a little sarcasm.

Have a safe New Year’s Eve and if you drink, find someone to drive you home. I want you back in 2011 to read my columns…

2010:

Sometimes you just need a video to remember what happened in 2010. Here is JibJab’s 2010 year in review with President Obama and Vice President Biden! Click HERE.

Traveling?

Check out some of the new TSA bumper stickers. My favorite, “Can’t see London, can’t see France, unless we see your underpants.”

David and Goliath:

If you want to hear a cute little girl tell the story, then this video is for you! She really gets into this story…

The Political Inbox:

-Vice President Joe Biden sent me an interesting note with the subject, “We want to say thank you, with a note.” He writes, “I’ve been in Washington for almost 40 years. I’ve seen a lot of Congresses come and go. But I can’t remember a group of lawmakers who accomplished more than the folks who just wrapped up their work.”

Joe wants me to reply to him and then President Obama will send me a thank you note for all I did to help them.

I especially like the debt they gave me and the high unemployment rates…

-The Republican National Committee (RNC) sent me an e-mail with the subject, “Action Alert: 72 Hours to Triple Your Impact.”

They tell me, “The Republican National Committee spent every last dime and exhausted every possible resource to help Republicans win historic victories at all levels of government in 2010.”

The spending of every last dime kind of reminds me of Congress…

-The Montana Democratic Party sent me an e-mail telling me they will be hosting an open house on January 3 to “Meet our new Executive Director Ted Dick, as well as incoming Legislators, Party staff and other Democrats, as we celebrate a New Year!”

There must not be many people attending because they say they are providing light refreshments, not to mention beer and wine. Party!

POLLS:

Gallup has their “Year in Review” poll results up month by month for 2010. Interesting stuff.

Stars we lost:

Yahoo has story about “Stars we lost” in which they show photos of celebrities who died in 2010.

North Dakota Drivers:

Here’s a video of a pile-up in North Dakota because of snow – about 100 vehicles. Silly North Dakota drivers…

Just think if they had to drive on the side streets in Great Falls, Montana…

Have a wonderful weekend…don’t forget to stretch….
