It Really is a Circus

Last night the City of Great Falls Commission decided to dismiss the five members of the Electric City Power Board.

The City Commission should have held one other vote.  This one to dismiss the members they appointed to the Great Falls International Airport Authority Board.

During the next County Commission meeting, the county commissioners should dismiss the members they appointed.

It appears this board is nothing but one big circus.  The board needs replaced and from what I have read, the sooner the better.  They are already wasting $35,000 to search for a replacement they don’t need.

Today, Airport Director Cynthia Schultz’s attorney released a letter to KRTV that was sent to the Great Falls mayor.  In it, Schultz’s attorney lists about 14 items that, in my humble opinion, would make most proponents of open and fair government shudder.

So now the circus has escalated.  Lines have been drawn in the sand.  It’s the underdog (Schultz) against the powerful & rich (the Board).

In my opinion they have wronged her.  She’s done wonderful things for the Great Falls International Airport  The record is clear – Schultz has increased the assets of the airport from $18.5 million to $113 million and the hangar occupancy from 28% to 100% and discretionary grants from $235,000 to $49 million – all since 1998.  Remarkable.

Let’s get rid of the current board and start over.  Which elected official is brave enough to make the call?
