It was a week for honoring our Veterans and of people doing silly things. Here are some things that caught my attention. Of course, my comments are included!
Veterans Day 2009:
It was a nice day. My flag was flying, was yours? I posted some comments about Veterans Day 2009 that you can read HERE.
One thing I would like to see is for all schools to have a Veterans Day event. Sadly, some schools do not. Ironically, some Montana schools don’t even have a flag in each classroom, and some don’t even say the pledge. That’s really sad.
The Protest:
People do and say silly things. For example, some people decided to protest at Congressman Denny Rehberg’s offices on Thursday saying he was not participating in the healthcare debate. Silly. By the way, the healthcare bill in the House already passed. Rehberg voted no.
Rehberg has been listening to Montanans, holding 18 town hall meetings across the state about healthcare. As for Montana’s two U.S. Senators, they have held zero town hall meetings. Where were the protests in front of their offices?
One local news report showed people drawing outlines of bodies with chalk outside his office. Silly. Luckily, the people did not pick a rainy day, or their chalk art would have been washed away. Some of the people I noticed in the videos were hard-core democrats. Shall we say this was all political? I just did!
New York:
The five people accused of the 9-11 attacks will get an all expense paid trip to New York where they will be tried in Federal Court – just a few blocks from where the attacks happened.
This was a ridiculous move by the Obama Administration. These people should be tried in military tribunals.
High School Football:
The playoffs are in full swing here in Montana. Great time of year. One thing I would like to see in Montana is for the state to have a Championship Weekend for football.
My idea would be for either the University of Montana or Montana State to host the Championship Games each year for all classes with the games played on their nice fields. If there were too many games for one day, they could have a few games on a Friday afternoon and then finish them off on Saturday. Montana television stations would be more inclined to televise the games if they were in played in one location, too.
More Planes:
The Governor of Montana and Montana National Guard leaders asked Sen. Jon Tester to help them get some more planes. I actually laughed out loud when I read this. Tester is not a member of any senate committee where he can apply pressure for more planes. He lacks seniority, too.
The F-15s presently stationed at the Guard are due to leave in a few years. There’s some talk about large transport planes being moved to different locations around the country, but they also make noise and some people in Great Falls don’t like that sound of freedom.
REO SPEEDWAGON:
My fellow REO Speedwagon fans probably already know about the new Christmas album, “”Not So Silent Night…Christmas with REO Speedwagon”
It’s good. A must have for us fans who have grown old with the Speedwagon gang. Some great reviews, too. An autographed copy is available HERE. You can also purchase it at Walmart.
That’s it for this week. Follow me on Twitter!
