I did what the doctor ordered in my last post, and backed away from the old computer for a few days. I watched very little news and for about 72 hours, I did not log on to a computer, although I had a front row seat for the major issue facing our country: Energy prices.
When I started my short trip on Friday, I found myself standing by the gas pump watching the dollars and cents click by. Final tally: $72.00. Gas was $3.99 a gallon. Ouch.
On my return trip, I watched again as the dollars and cents clicked by on Sunday. Final tally: $84.00. Gas was $4.06 a gallon. Ouch again.
I think I muttered some nasty words toward Pelosi, Reid, Baucus, Tester and all the “we can’t drill our way out of this problem” folks.
I wrote back in May:
It’s time to look at everything, which includes increasing our domestic oil production along with developing wind, biofuels, nuclear, and solar energy. Yes, that includes building more refineries. Everything must be on the table to solve our energy problem.
Meanwhile, it seems most folks are starting to realize what this editorial from Investor’s Business Daily tells us:
But as long as Democrats remain in the congressional majority, it’s unlikely that prices will fall even modestly. The solutions the party is offering are, at best, useless. Actually, we’re being overly generous, because the Democrats’ answers to the oil issue are childish responses that would do more harm than good.
My family’s trip this weekend will be the last one this summer unless I win the lottery or something. That means no Wally World. Thank you Democrats!
