Tim Russert, moderator of NBC’s Meet the Press, died today. He was 58 years old.

I will most miss Russert grilling and cross-examining the guests on his show every Sunday morning. Russert was a blue-collar type of guy who never forgot his roots. Russert knew Washington from the inside out as he got his start in Washington as a Senate staffer to Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

During the years I watched Meet the Press, I found myself either being mad at his questioning or cheering Russert’s questioning of his guests. That’s the mark of a great journalist and political analyst. Tim Russert was all that and more. He love politics and it showed each week.

“If it’s Sunday, it’s Meet the Press” will never be the same again.
