Bathrooms, DUI, Circus and Lions

It’s a small victory, but a victory nonetheless…
With the excitement of a child on Christmas morning, I read today in the Billings Gazette a story called, “Movin’ on up: Sen Tester builds staff, moves into permanent offices”.
TWW believes the most interesting part of this story is that U.S. Senator Jon Tester, D-Mont., received his permanent office in Washington, D.C. complete with two, yes two, bathrooms.
There were no actual photos of the bathrooms as the Gazette reporter would not go that far, but under one of the other photos it stated, “Tester was surprised to learn there are two bathrooms in the suite.” In the photo, Sen. Tester and his Chief of Staff seemed really happy about finding a second bathroom (really happy).
I guess when you are number 100, every victory no matter how small is enormous and something to tell the press about.
TWW believes this may be historic. Maybe the Gazette will summon a reporter to do some research and see if any other newly-elected Montana senator had two bathrooms in their first office. Or, how does having two bathrooms rank compared to other senator’s offices? Does Sen. Kennedy have two bathrooms? Did Jon Tester use his clout of being ranked 100 out of 100? Maybe. I think there’s more reporting to be done.

More on the Congressional Delegation…
The Billings Gazette did some other stories on Sunday about the Montana Congressional Delegation, their staff, etc.
I guess the biggest thing TWW took from the articles is that Congressman Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., covers the same area as Senators Tester and Max Baucus, D-Mont., and gets a lot less money. TWW believes he does a better job, too.
Baucus also has staff from his senate office and from his position as chairman of the finance committee. If my math is correct from reading this article, he has about 75 people on staff. That’s a heck of a campaign team already in place for his reelection. Of course, they can’t campaign (can’t get caught) on official office time…and if you believe that then…

A “few” drinks…
The tale of Montana State Representative Scott Boggio, R-Red Lodge, getting a DUI is still in the news.
I’ll bet he’d like his quote back after blowing a 0.14 on his blood alcohol test when he said, “I guess that anyone who goes out to dinner and has a few drinks along with their meal can get a DUI.”
A better quote would have been, “I was stupid. I was wrong. I made a mistake. I am sorry.”
Maybe use a designated driver next time buck-o.

The Circus continues…
The Montana House passed the Health and Human Services bill. Now, with those eight bills in the Montana senate, we’ll see how it goes.
I’m tired of the Montana legislature. Very tired. Montanans are too.
Can we have a do-over?

Lions…
Two older men (Bill and Bob) were sitting in the park reading the daily newspaper. Bob said, “I read where Lions breed up to 14 times a week.” Bill was very upset after hearing this. Bob said, “Why are you so upset that Lions breed up to 14 times per week, Bill?”
Bill said, “I belong to the Elks.”

  1. I would like the Legislature to meet only once every 14 years. This is not original..got it from a business owner friend of mine last night. Makes sense to me.
