Back in February and again in August, I wrote “Every time someone mentions closing a Post Office, local officials cry foul and Not In My Backyard (NIMBY).”

They did it again.  Yesterday the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) announced they were delaying the closing of any more post offices or mail facilities until May 15, 2012, due “to a request made by multiple U.S. Senators.”

Look for another delay in May 2012 – this time it will be delayed past the November elections – maybe it will eventually happen the same day as the Keystone XL Pipeline announcement… Continue reading →
