Alaska’s U.S. Senator, Lisa Murkowski, has decided to run as a write-in candidate after losing the GOP primary to a Tea Party candidate.

I think it’s great that she decided to run.

Murkowski was tagged as not conservative enough by the Tea Party and lost the primary by just a handful of votes.

Alaskans will have to write in her name (spell it correctly) and color in the oval next to it. It’s a pretty easy two-step process, but it is hard to win as a write-in candidate. Reports say the last time it was done in a state-wide race was in 1954. That was Strom Thurmond. He supposedly had thousands of pencils made with his name on them to give to voters to take with them to the polls to easily remember his name and how to spell it correctly.
