New Poll and the Bottom Line

I was not too surprised to learn from a recent Gallup Poll that “U.S. Military Personnel, Veterans Give Obama Lower Marks.”

You can read the whole poll HERE.

The poll was conducted January 2010 – April 2011 so it does not include the time when Osama bin Laden was killed.

I would imagine many elected officials who never served would find out that they rank lower in the polls like this than those elected officials who did serve.  It’s the respect issue – elected officials who served in the military are more respected by veterans and active duty military folks.

Elected officials who served in the military talk the talk and walk the walk.

Gallup says the “Bottom Line” to this poll is:

Americans who currently serve or previously served in the U.S. military are less likely to approve of the job President Obama is doing than are those who have not served in the military, by about 10 percentage points. This approval gap occurs across age groups.

I’ve written a lot about how veterans have the upper hand with me when it comes to casting my vote, and it looks like this poll shows that often it is the case with other veterans and active duty folks.

My bottom line is that we can sure use more military veterans running our country.
