It was really no surprise when I read this Associated Press story that Max Baucus is getting most of his donations from outside Montana:

While 83 percent of the Baucus’s larger campaign donations came from out of state when he was last re-elected in 2002, 90 percent now come from out of state, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Baucus has raised a total of more than $11.5 million for his re-election this year.

This is a record which he should be proud. We can call him 90/10 Max. 90% for out of state interests, 10% for Montana.

While reading the article, I found the most interesting part of the story was when Baucus was asked if the money he gets in donations has anything to do with his votes. He replied,

“You get to the point where you just do what’s right,” said Baucus, a 30-year veteran of the Senate.

The next question should have been, “When did you reach the point that you decided to do what was right, senator? 30 years ago? 20 years ago? 10? When you filed for re-election this time?

And Montana keeps sending him back there time after time…
