DEMOCRATIC DEBATE SUNDAY:
The Montana Democrats are hosting primary debates this Sunday (April 12) in Helena.
There are debates for the candidates in U.S. Congressional Districts MT-01 and MT-02. There will also be a U.S. Senate candidate debate.
The debates will be streamed on Facebook @MTDems. More information can be found HERE.
MT GOP OPPOSES CI-132:
The Montana GOP Executive Board passed a resolution last week formally opposing CI-132. (Source)
That means you should support CI-132.
Constitutional Initiative 132 (CI-132) defends Montana’s long tradition of nonpartisan courts. Montana has been electing judges via nonpartisan elections since 1935. CI-132 protects our long-standing tradition of selecting judges based on the person, not the political party.
For more information about CI-132, visit the Montanans for Nonpartisan Courts website HERE.
DEPUTY WHIP SHEEHY:
Axios is reporting that U.S. Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) has tapped Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.) to join his whip team, replacing former Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), who is now Secretary of Homeland Security.
Barrasso must have been impressed with the video of Sheehy assisting the Capitol Police in forcefully removing a U.S. Marine veteran from a committee hearing. The veteran’s arm was broken during the skirmish.
Sheehy can now twist Republican senators’ arms and whip them in line to vote along party lines.
GREENEST STATES:
From my friends at WalletHub…
With Earth Day around the corner and the U.S. having experienced $182.7 billion in damage from weather and climate disasters during 2024, the personal-finance company WalletHub recently released its report on 2026’s Greenest States, as well as expert commentary, in order to showcase the states that best protect our environment.
WalletHub compared the 50 states in terms of 28 key metrics that speak to the current health of the environment and residents’ environmental-friendliness. The data set ranges from green buildings per capita to the share of energy consumption from renewable resources.
Montana is ranked #25. You can see the full report HERE.
